Clements Gate Community Services
As part of our programme of activities at Clements gate we have developed a range of relevant and essential services that cater for the varying needs of the Muslim community. Our aim is to serve the needs of the community in a proactive and responsive manner and which are guided by Islamic principles. The services we offer are confidential and we aim to adhere to good practice models of pastoral care, support and professionalism.
Our aim in providing these services is to enable Muslims living in Bradford with avenues to remain attached to their Islamic norms and values while at the same time enabling them to become better citizens of Bradford and a force for good. The services that we offer are:
Pastoral support
Sometimes, we go through life and experience difficulties. At times like these, a listening and helpful person is a source of comfort and support. We know, that as in the rest of society, there are many people who are living through difficult situations sometimes on their own. Through this project we aim to provide support to individuals and families in the Muslim community who may be experiencing distress and trying to resolve issues that are affecting their lives e.g. issues around marriage, domestic violence, parent children relationships etc. We seek to provide an opportunity for those who wish to talk through these issues or seek some advice on how to deal with them. In order to do this we are offering sessions with Sheikh Saad for people who need support. These sessions will be held in a neutral community setting where confidentiality is assured and is easily accessible.
This is a key feature of our work in Bradford and indeed beyond. Through it we offer an opportunity for Muslims in Bradford to sit and talk to an Imam (sheikh Saad Al Ataas). Since its inception in May this service has supported over 30 people and has dealt with a range of issues from marriage, child rearing, general welfare, issues around possession and mental health. As is the prophetic way this service is offered in a non judgmental manner enabling people to talk about their issues in an open and transparent manner. Support and guidance is offered through reference to Qur’an, the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad and examples from the Salaf Saleheen and the notables of the Ummah. This service is available every Monday and Thursday between the hours of 4 to 7pm and can be arranged by calling Mohammad Shabbir (07944435722) or e-mailing us on services@clementsgate.org.uk.
Marriage Service
Uniting in the bonds of marriage is a fulfillment of the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad SAW through it we potentially attain the pleasure of this world and the next. It therefore important in executing this sacred duty that we do this with diligence and with guidance from the Qur’an and Sunnah.
So if you’re thinking about getting married or arranging a marriage for your children then why not seek support so that you can undertake this obligation in the best manner. If you have already decided who you want to marry then we can arrange for an Imam to be present to perform the Nikah ceremony and to outline roles and responsibilities of spouse and reminders from the Qur’an and Sunnah. Please contact us through the contact page on this website.
Will Writing Service
As Muslims we are commanded to make preparation for death and its inevitability therefore besides our deeds we also make preparation for it through following the Prophetic example of having a will ready. An Imam will support you through the process of compiling your Islamic will. Furthermore if the need arises we can refer you to appropriate accountants and solicitors so that you can best manage your tax implications as well as ensure that the Islamic Will fits into British Law. Please contact us through the contact page on this website if you would like help with your will.
Community Support
Clements Gate is proud to be developing links and partnerships within the community and statutory sector. Most notably we have visited and supported people living within mental distress in hospital and within the community. We have also worked with schools and on university campuses through teaching and lectures at events.
We can offer guidance and support to statutory and voluntary sector organisations who aim to reach out to Muslim communities. Our expertise in health, community development, academia and Islamic science will enable organisations to develop services that are relevant to the people living in Bradford. Please contact us through the contact page on this website if you would like to get in touch.
