The recitation of the Holy Quran is an intergral part of the life of a Muslim. In it we find parables, stories of the past, commands and prohibitions and words to make us think, reflect and cry. The Quran should inspire fear, hope and love and make us bow down in prostration to Allah (swt). Many of us are unable to appreciate the beauty of this Message due to a lack of confidence in reciting the Quran or not understanding the meaning of what we recite.

As the Quran was revealed in a clear Arabic tongue, it is necessary that its recitation agrees with the manner in which it was revealed to and transmitted from the Messenger of Allah, Peace and Blessing be upon him. At Clements Gate Children’s Madrasa, we are by the grace of Allah (swt), fortunate to be working with a Scholar of Sacred knowledge linked to this chain of transmission, Abu Shuaib Peters Sa’ad Al Attas. There are three levels of teaching in the class:

Noorani qaida Program: Helps children with the pronunciation and recognition of Arabic letters. Particular attention is paid to ensure children develop both reading and writing skills at this stage.

Quranic Recitation with Tajweed Programme: The focus here is on the correct pronunciation of the Quran. Each child is taught how to pronounce each letter of the Arabic language correctly along with the corresponding rules.

Quran Arabic Program: The focus here is on memorisation and understanding of the Quran.

Teacher: Sheikh Sa’ad is responsible for the management, planning and delivery of all classes. For a biography of Shaykh Sa’ad click here.

Teaching Assistants: Currently two teaching assistants support Shaykh Sa’ad in the Madrasa, enabling targeted support to individual children. All the teaching assistances are students of Shaykh Sa’ad.

Teaching Methods: With a ratio of 1 adult to 5 children, we use a combination of traditional and contemporary teaching methods to facilitate the learning of individual children. This ratio allows us to deliver quality, targeted learning for the students allowing them all to fulfil their potential.

Madrasa/Parent Partnership: The Madrasa recognises that in order to ensure children receive a positive and productive learning experience it must work closely with parents. In doing so, parents are proactively encouraged to support their children at home and maintain regular contact with the Madrasa.

Length of Class: Each class runs for one hour, of which 15 minutes are allocated for Arabic writing and the remaining for recitation/memorising.

Location and Class Rooms: The Madrasa operates from Lister Primary School, Scotchman Road, Manningham, offering a warm and child friendly environment to learn in.
